My friend Denese and I went to lunch today at a place in Evantson called Dixie Kitchen and Bait Shop. It's a Southern Style restaurant with a heavy New Orleans theme. We went for two reasons, one is because Denese is working on a project that involves trying different New Orleans themed restaurants and two, it gives us a reason to get out of our home offices and hang out together during the week. Our critique is that the food is mostly authentic and true to New Orleans style and would recommend it to anyone, but especially to those who are looking specifically for New Orleans food. We spoke with the Manager of the restaurant and she did have some interesting thoughts regarding the difference between or challenge of providing New Orleans culture in Chicago and running a successful business.
Friday evening we pretty mellow, we cleaned (here's me washing dishes) and got ready for an event we're hosting at our house on Saturday.
